You might wonder what former ‘First Ladies’ do after their husbands quit their jobs and move out of the lime light. Do they get back to life as usual? Will they use the fame, experience and network to do something great and interesting? Well, Cherie Blair definitely has, and last week, I had the privilege to meet her at her London office.
I was first greeted by Henriette Kolb, a delightful and professional woman, who was easy to connect with. Henriette heads up the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women which supports women entrepreneurs in countries where they lack equal opportunities. Currently, the foundation works in six countries and has two global programmes (more info at www.cherieblairfoundation.org).
As we walked through the office, I only saw women working. And in there, amongst them all, was Cherie herself. She was modestly dressed in black trousers and a tailored ethnic tunic. Her fresh, make-up free face gave a glow of natural authority. She is indeed a grand lady, as the moment she joined us in the conference room, the atmosphere became that of a cozy living room.
Yes, we definitely share the same goals – supporting women entrepreneurship – we just work on different slices of the same cake. UnitedSucces works all over the world and dedicates itself to enabling established business owners to expand internationally. Cherie's foundation focuses on what is called the 'missing middle', women who are already running small businesses, but encounter problems in growing bigger.
Cherie is very focused in her direction, as well as her dreams. She told me that, in two years time, she wants the foundation to be assisting women throughout the entire Middle East region. With her impressive level of dedication, she is making great steps to realize these ambitions. UnitedSucces supports her and the foundation all the way.
At UnitedSucces we believe in sharing and connecting. We feel inspired to help others who are sincere in uplifting and empowering women. It is the visionary Janet Hanson in New York, Founder and CEO of 85Broads, who introduced me to Cherie Blair. The sharing and sincere connection leads us both to greater heights.
… United we can make a difference.
There is a lot of work to do still! …Cherie Blair's website quotes another former first lady, Hillary Clinton: “Women and girls are one of the world’s greatest untapped resources and a terrific return on investment.”
So they are. We could not agree more!
